Overwhelmed by the post-holiday toy overflow?

When decluttering & organizing, we should prioritize children & their spaces just as we do ours.

CHILDREN NEED MINIMALISM TOO!

Less is more

The less toys your children have, the better.

Hear me out…

In 2021, Premium Joy toy company conducted a study researching how many toys kids actually play with.

They gave the kids 50 toys to choose from… the result?

They only played with around 10 toys.

seasonal swap-out

If you're hesitant to get rid of your children’s toys, seasonal rotation is a great option!

Collect recently unused toys and store them out of sight. Every three months, rotate them out.

Tip: If they don't notice the toys are gone, it’s time to donate!

ONE IN. ONE OUT.

Use the “one in, one out" rule when toys start to take over the space (this can also apply to clothes, shoes, cosmetics, etc).

When your child receives a new toy, help them decide on a toy to donate.

This not only teaches them to give back but makes them more appreciative and excited for their new toy.

Tip: Use clear bins to hold their toys so they can see easily what they have!

DONATE!

So, how do you donate + release the guilt of “losing money”? You can’t change the past!

Moving forward, be sure toy consumption is minimal and accept that kids eventually grow out of toys.

We linked a few amazing local charities, schools and churches where you can make an impact.
